Why is Langton Green great for families?

Langton has a mix of old and new residential housing, with most houses having an excellent amount of space, perfect for families.  There are also lots of green spaces that are perfect for couples and families with younger children and walking dogs, and the local primary school is very well regarded. The village has a lot of local community events and even has its own local magazine, Langton Life.

Langton Green Community Sports Association

Established in 1972, the Langton Green sports club has charitable status and has served the community for decades. It is an FA Charter status club and has strong mini soccer, boys’ and girls’ football and netball teams for children in the area. Some of the pitches were also upgraded in 2022 to ensure proper drainage to offer a longer season on turf.

The recreation ground also houses the Pavilion Café which serves fabulous cakes and refreshments for all and is incredibly child friendly, with a huge number of toys and books – it’s routinely packed with parents, grandparents and their offspring enjoying a catch up while the children play in safe surroundings.

The village hall is also located by the recreation ground and is great for events and hiring for private parties.

Langton Green Village Society

The Village Society was founded in 1959, with the aim of preserving the look and character of the local community. Nowadays the Society is more involved with village affairs and mobilises public opinion on issues that might affect the village.

Since 1996, the Society has arranged the Village Fete, previously an annual event, but this year moving to bi-annual, with the first Langton Green Festival held in 2023 as part of the Tunbridge Wells Fringe. Both celebrations bring together hundreds of people, as well as many local businesses which get involved.  Lots of fun is had!

The Society also arranges Quiz Nights and has a rolling programme of community improvements, such as Operation Cherry Blossom, in which every house in the village was given a cherry tree to plant to support pollinators, such as bees.

Local schools

For those with younger children, they can either attend the outstanding rated Langton Green Primary School, which takes three-form entry, or Holmewood House prep school, which also offers the wider community lots of sports and activities throughout the Easter and Summer holidays and a great swim school.

Further afield into Tunbridge Wells, children of secondary school age have a choice of several comprehensive and Grammar schools to attend, however the Kent Test is still required for Grammar School entry via the ‘11+’ exam.
